Flood insurance lacking in Red River area, and nation wide

Published by jefairweather at 4:59 am under Current Headlines, Human Interest Edit This

Less that 800 homeowners in the path of Red River flooding have flood insurance according to AP sources.  This is the situation despite the Government’s efforts to get people to sign up for the insurance voluntarily.  The insurance can cost as much a $800 a year, that’s a lot of money for a working family, but not compared to the cost of flood damage.  The only hope for many of these people will be ‘limited’ aid, if the Federal Government declares the site a disaster area.
